The Passion Paradox A Guide to Going All In Finding Success and Discovering the Benefits of an Unbalanced Life Audible Audio Edition Brad Stulberg Steve Magness Christopher Lane Brilliance Audio Books Reviews

  • This book will resound well with those infused with passion, teaching them about this feeling and how to recognize it, temper it, and cultivate it effectively without giving it vent to consume us. There are parts where personally it was difficult to face truths about my own passions. Brad and Steve are prime coaches for dealing with these at times harrowing discoveries. All told, a masterful look at an aspect needed in very healthy doses in today's world. Bravo, gentlemen!
  • The Passion Paradox offers up both reminders of how to live life with one's passion in mind and also ways in which we can pursue our passions more mindfully. Stulberg and Magness once again do a fantastic job of breaking down complex and esoteric subjects into easily digestible literature. A relatively quick read that's loaded with great tidbits about how to live our lives to the fullest and healthiest.
  • I bought this book because I was very impressed with the authors' "Peak Performance" and that the idea brought forth by this book - the spectrum of passion.

But in the end, the research isn't great and doesn't strongly support the theory. There are no proposed solutions either, it's along the lines of "don't let your passions control you".
  • Well written,to the point, easy read. This book highlights the reality of chasing your passion and explains it in a way yet to be done by others. Must read for anyone that is passionate about anything to understand it is truly a double edged sword. Well done guys!
  • The topic of The Passion Paradox is how to be a high performer over a life-time. As the authors describe, many top athletes (and even sub-elite/age-groupers) pursue their passion (or sport) with such fervor that performance, eventually, suffers. Stulberg and Magness thoroughly studied what drives passion, what happens when it is all-consuming, and how to find a 51% balance so that one's passion can be pursued to a high level without reaching the point of injury, burnout, becoming annoying to friends/family, etc. I have friends who are lined up to read my copy although I do not want to part with it! Thanks for writing this, Brad and Steve!
  • Finding meaningful volunteer opportunities is not easy...you will be well-serviced by the guidance in this new book.
I have already begun using many of these concepts as I continue to advise people creating their roadmap, examining their motivation and matching core values with missions.
Making these choices wisely, it is advised to center your passion, fulfill your needs for competency, autonomy, and personal relatedness. These efforts are clearly explained in artfully and scientifically supported prose.
  • Sometimes a book comes to you at the time you need it to be in your life. That is the case with the Passion Paradox, it made me stop and think about what I was doing and why, which was what was needed. It wasn’t life changing, but the book did help me choose a direction that I would not have gone otherwise.
  • The authors are able to take on the subject from many angles. They promote the benefits of passion, while understanding the repercussions. The book is well rounded by connecting passion to subjects like obsession, mastery, and self-awareness. Quick, informative read.
